What does the AI era mean for the future of work? According to our CEO Antony Brydon, a huge number of jobs are going to be eliminated — and an even larger proportion of jobs will fundamentally change because of how AI will augment our work. This might leave you wondering: How do humans fit into the future workplace?
Recently, Antony was featured on the “Kotecki on Tech” podcast, hosted by James Kotecki, which features 1:1 interviews with tech execs, visionaries and policymakers about where the world is headed. In the episode “When Machines Do Our Jobs,” he and James discuss the implications of AI in the workforce and how jobs will change as a result of this. They also ponder whether it’s time to rethink our entire economic system — even though we don’t really know exactly what the AI world will look like.
But what we do know is the workforce is changing, which comes with a bevy of social and economic impacts. During the conversation, Antony shares his insights from studying economic models, searching for answers to these challenges. AI might eventually lead to the introduction of universal income, exceedingly high corporate taxes or retooling the economic reward models that couple wages with productivity (our bet is on the latter).
Though the future of work may be uncertain, there’s no question that humans will need to adapt and learn how to coexist with AI. To learn more, listen to the episode above or find it on your favorite podcast player.
